Monkey Knife Fight, Coinbase join as Exclusive Launch Partners; ONE Esports to feature Factor content across platform
SEATTLE (July 12, 2021) — Evil Geniuses (EG), one of the original and most iconic professional esports organizations in the world, announce the launch of Factor.gg, a new esports analytics platform. Designed to fill the current market gap for in-depth statistical dissection of esports data to boost performance, Factor provides users with deep analysis of professional League of Legends**. This free-to-use platform builds upon the simpler data solutions currently available, adding proprietary statistics and features to break down each microelement of professional play.
raw data from professional and amateur leagues across the world+ and can be used for performance analysis of teams and players, recruiting of undiscovered talent, or simply developing a deeper appreciation of the intricacies of high-level League. For fans at home looking to break down the action, Factor offers the ability to take a deeper dive into their favorite matches using data to engage with, watch, and talk about League of Legends esports. Designed to stand alongside traditional sports solutions, this platform offers an intuitive analysis of complex data sets for multiple professional and fan audiences.
Factor delivers users a unique viewing experience of League matches. Featuring a 2D visualization of the League of Legends map and a Key Events Timeline, the platform allows users to re-watch a match along with important highlights based on player actions and team locations on the Rift.
“Although our industry is built on ones and zeroes, esports has lagged behind traditional sports in the areas of analytics and fan-focused platforms that provide engaging new stats, insights, and content,” said Chris DeAppolonio, Chief Innovation Officer at Evil Geniuses. “With Factor, we’re responding to fan interest in advanced stats and esports analysis and driving a change in how this complex data is accessed and analyzed.”
Data scientists at Factor have identified 10+ new statistical categories to measure League of Legends play. Central to this is POWR (Performance Objectively Weighted and Rated), a multilayered figure that takes into account over 30 different statistical categories. Through complex statistical modeling, POWR provides an unbiased assessment of the strength of a team or player and allows for an easily understandable way to compare competitors. The higher the POWR, the stronger the team and the more impactful the player’s performance.
“Factor was originally created to be used by EG competitive teams only,” continues DeAppolonio. “Through releasing it to the community, our hope is that Factor sparks further analytical discovery of what defines top talent across competitive League.”
The goal of Factor is to bring everyone who uses it a deeper understanding of what it takes to be successful in League. In support of that, Factor will feature exclusive content created by analytics experts to dive into the numbers. The @EsportsFactor Twitter account will regularly post pre-match win probabilities, unique statistics, and analysis of live matches.
Joining Factor as exclusive launch partners are daily fantasy sports platform, Monkey Knife Fight, and cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase. Content licensing partner, ONE Esports, will feature Factor stories, data, and insights across its properties.
