Today we have the privilege of announcing the newest additions to the Evil Geniuses Dota 2 roster: Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka and Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko.
The 2022 EG Dota 2 Roster:
Position 1 – Artour “Arteezy” Babaev
Position 2 – Abed “Abed” Yusop
Position 3 – Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko
Position 4 – Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen
Position 5 – Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka
Coach – Sam “Bulba” Sosale
Widely regarded as one of the best support players to ever play Dota, Jesse is returning to professional play following his retirement in January 2020. Known for his Earth Spirit, Tusk, and Rubick play, JerAx won back-to-back International’s as a member of the OG roster in 2018 & 2019.
“Everyone is looking forward to playing with Jesse. He has a lot of great ideas about dota and how he approaches the game. The entire team is excited to have him join us and we cannot wait to get started and show the fans our potential.” – Sam “Bulba” Sosale, Evil Geniuses, Dota 2 Head Coach.
Following a 5th-6th place finish at TI10 playing the 1 Position with former team Virtus.pro, Nightfall will role swap to play Offlane for EG. At TI10, he showed his mechanical playmaking ability with dominant performances on Medusa, Luna, and Ursa. As a relatively new professional player, Egor’s new teammates are confident that his skill, hard work, and approach to the game will easily translate to the new role.
“This roster change to me is really exciting. I like the idea of a carry switching to the offlane as these two roles often interact the most, and both Jerax and Nightfall have a lot of fresh air and tactical strategy to bring to the team.” – Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, EG Position 1 player.
The first chance to see the team compete together will be on November 29th for the North American Dota Pro Circuit Tour 1 hosted by ESL. We hope that fans are not only excited for the new faces to represent EG in our Midnight Blue, but also the new approach to strategy and preparation that comes with a revamped roster.
