An Update About Our League of Legends Team

Posted 2nd of May 2014 by Evil Geniuses

Hello EG Fans,

I wanted to give a quick update on the state of the team and our plans for the upcoming split. It's been a pretty tumultuous off-season for many teams: we've seen roster changes abound and a huge shift in the landscape of the North American LCS. It's always hard to tell what will happen with new teams in the LCS, but for the most part, we've seen the skill level of the league overall rise with each season. I expect this season to be no different.

Unfortunately that puts EG in a tough position – if the league gets better and we don't, we'll likely find ourselves in the same position we were at this season. Everyone on the roster agrees that another relegation-bound season would not only be disappointing, it would be unacceptable. As the team consists of fierce competitors, we all understand that improvement and results are paramount. With an exceptionally short off-season this split, we've got to pinpoint exactly what is needed to change in a very short time so that we can jump off to a good start next split and put ourselves in playoff contention. It's never easy to reach a definitive conclusion on which piece of the machine isn't functioning at full capacity, especially in a team game. Is it the coaching? The shotcalling? An individual player? Our overall communication?

With these questions in mind, we're using this all-too-short off-season to try out a handful of players at a few key roles during our scrims. This does not necessarily mean we'll be making changes to the roster for next split, though it also doesn't preclude that possibility. We'll be looking at players from the NA Challenger scene as well as potentially looking abroad. The team wants to improve first and foremost. Hopefully this process will net us some better results for next split and we can put Evil Geniuses back in contention for Worlds.

Thanks as always for your support!
