Evil Geniuses Welcome New Dota 2 Team

Posted 21st of Feb 2014 by Evil Geniuses

Hi Everyone,

This is Charlie Yang, former Team Manager for Dignitas and Speed Gaming, who were recently picked up by Cloud9. I know the last month or so has involved a lot of speculation regarding EG’s Dota 2 team, and I’m happy to finally announce the lineup of Fear, Universe, Arteezy, Zai and PPD as Evil Geniuses Dota 2. I will also be joining the Evil Geniuses organization in the role of Dota 2 Team manager, and I’ll be working out of EG’s San Francisco office on a day-to-day basis.

I am incredibly grateful to Team Dignitas and ODEE for the experience and opportunities that they’ve given me. I don’t think I would have imagined myself reaching this point when I first picked up WC3 Dota, or even when I first started working in eSports. While I’ve been given a lot of credit for my work in the past, I’m still incredibly lucky to have found myself in this position. I plan to keep learning and improving how I do my job and I’m excited to do that at EG with this lineup.

The players on this roster are immensely talented and have so much potential to offer the scene. Collectively, they’re some of the most individually skilled players in the West and they still have room to grow. This is a team that has a good mix of young passion and the experienced veterans to guide it. They’re a group that is not only singularly dedicated to winning, but believes that they can do so consistently. Their results in the last month speak for themselves. I’m looking forward to working with them and watching them grow not only as players, but as people and professionals.

North America has a lot to offer Dota 2 and EG is excited to be a part of it. I think this team is going to do well, and I’ll be there to make sure Artour has his man-purse again for the next LAN. Also, I’m very happy to be on a team with a player that’s older than I am for once.

Sincerely,

Charlie Yang
Team Manager, Evil Geniuses Dota 2 Division
