Yusuke Momochi's Biography

Yusuke Momochi is a premier fighting game player from Japan with numerous accomplishments to his name. Momochi has had strong performances at the most famous fighting game event in Japan, Super Battle Opera, several times - beginning in 2007 with a third-place finish in Street Fighter III: Third Strike.

Prior to joining Evil Geniuses, he was part of a team of three — consisting of fellow Japanese legends RF and Kindevu — that took home first place at the 2010 Super Battle Opera tournament for Street Fighter 4. He also placed second at one of the final qualifiers for EVO 2011, Shadowloo Showdown.

After joining Evil Geniuses in July 2011, Momochi immediately made a name for himself by achieving second place at the GodsGarden 4 invitational, losing only to EVO 2011 champion Fuudo. He once again qualified for Super Battle Opera in 2011 with partner Bonchan, where he finished fifth. Momochi has had several notable victories in Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition, including a first-place finish at Season’s Beatings: Velocity, a third-place finish at Canada Cup, and a second-place finish at CEO.

Several amazing seasons followed, including a first-place finish at 2014's Capcom Cup. 2015, however, was arguably Momochi's strongest year ever as a player under the Evil Geniuses banner -- in addition to victories in various Capcom Cup qualifying events (and exhibitions packed with fierce competition, like the SXSW Fighters Invitational), he also beat out thousands of opponents to claim a close victory over AVM.GamerBee at 2015’s EVO World Finals that will go down in history as one of the tournament’s most memorable battles.

Outside of competition, Momochi keeps prospective players up-to-date on the various new tips and techniques for Street Fighter V via his YouTube lecture series (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPB5UJ70KDnL_hy0TyT79NA), and is currently spending time training a brand new generation of fighting game competitors through his new initiative, Shinobism, which he founded along with his partner and fellow EG teammate, Yuko "ChocoBlanka" Momochi.
