Ricki Ortiz's Biography

Hailing from Northern California and first making a name for herself in the Tekken scene, “fierce” fighter Ricki Ortiz has proven herself as not only one of the best players in the NorCal region, but also one of the best in the world. A veteran of the fighting game community for years, Ricki has been a force to be reckoned with in countless tournaments dating back to Capcom vs. SNK 2, Street Fighter III: Third Strike and Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

More recently, she can be seen dive-kicking her way to the top of the tournament charts in Street Fighter x Tekken, Ultra Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter V. Ricki is notorious for skillful reads of opponents and pinpoint execution, so it’s no surprise that her Rufus is one of the most feared opponents in high-level play. In addition to standout performances in many tournaments across the country, she has also represented the United States at Super Battle Opera in Japan.

Signed onto the Evil Geniuses Fighting Game Division in July 2010, Ricki made an immediate impact by placing second at EVO 2010 in her first event with an Evil Geniuses jersey. This year, Ricki has also managed to make a serious impact. Notable performances in 2012 include first-place SSFIV:AE 2012 finishes at ECT4, NWM4, and Texas Showdown Championships. She also took home a second-place finish at EVO 2012 for Street Fighter x Tekken and has qualified for the Capcom Street Fighter 25th Anniversary tournament finals which are scheduled to take place later this year. In 2013, Ricki has maintained a dominant force in the EVO Season. The Road to EVO 2013 season was a stellar season for Ricki Ortiz. Out of the five majors, she finished Top 5 in three of them, with some being in both SSFIV: AE and SFxT. Ricki's greatest successes in the Roat to EVO was finishing 2nd in SFxT at Winter Brawl 7 and SCR 2013. At EVO 2013 Ricki Ortiz finished tied for 33rd Place with her teammate, Momochi. The next year, Ricki racked up a ton of spectacular finishes at majors around the nation, battling her way to a 1st place finish at East Coast Showdown and 2nd place finishes at NCR, Winter Brawl 8, and APEX 2014 (across both Super Street Fighter IV: AE and Street Fighter x Tekken). Ricki’s flashy style both on and off the screen make her one of the most unforgettable and unpredictable members of Evil Geniuses.

Ricki has also made special guest appearances at several fighting game events, including Street Fighter x Tekken reality program “Cross Assault”. With Street Fighter V, Ricki is looking forward to raising the stakes once again, currently putting a ton of work into Chun-Li and Karin. Already looking incredibly strong, having placed 5th in the MadCatz Cup exhibition and 2nd in the Wizard World Portland tournament, you can expect to see Ricki’s trademark style dazzle her opponents all over again throughout 2016.
